keep me in mind - zbb
[m & i saw them in concert about 2 weeks ago and had an absolute blast…. they are incredible in concert… definitely getting tickets to their next concert in the area.. or wherever - they were that good.]
on a completely unrelated note, i would like to take a moment to give every single teacher out there a huuuge high five, pat on the back, round of applause and a thousand thank-yous for their incredible hard work and commitment to education. i have a new, unexpected deep-hearted [«which is not a word…] appreciation for all teachers for what they do day in and day out.. these past few months have been a humbling experience as i am learning that teaching is almost a 24 hour job - if only you could turn off your brain when you leave school… it just so happens that is not the case.. i find myself thinking about the students all the time and spending time that was previously consumed with fb-creeping and blog-stalking, now searching for lesson ideas, activities, differentiation methods/strategies andddd applying for jobs/updating my e-portfolio (wompwomp)… anywayyyy, just had to share my thoughts as i begin my second 8 weeks with my new 2nd grade class —> almost done!! [haaalleluuujaahhh haaalleluuujaahhh]
you must watch rita prierson’s TED TALK.. she is such a good person and educator.. this is so evident in her optimistic attitude and the compassion she shows for teaching as she talks about being a champion for students.
i love that +2 idea, too!
mitch albom, for one more day.
* i cannot think of something more true. that “someone” almost becomes part of you, like a part of your skin or maybe some days in your back pocket, or maybe just on the tip of your tongue as if you had just hung up the phone with them & forgot to tell them something.. & talking to that someone in your head doesn’t even seem crazy, it seems real.. & sometimes you can hear their voice and sometimes you know they’re just listening.. there’s true, heartbreaking comfort in knowing that even though you cannot reach out and grab their hand, their fingers are intertwined with yours whether you know it or not. they are part of your being, part of your soul that will never, ever go away.
